Announcement of new Music Director
It gives the Vancouver Bach Choir great pleasure to announce the appointment, effective July 1/09, of Marisa Gaetanne as the Music Director of the Vancouver Bach Children’s Chorus family of choirs. Ms. Gaetanne has been involved in this program for almost 20 years, conducting mainly our younger singers, and has worked closely with Bruce Pullan, who has just retired after 25 years in this position, to maintain a high level of both music education and performance. She is committed to continuing and furthering the basic values and professionalism of this organization. Continue reading…
Vancouver Bach Children’s Chorus & Youth Choirs
To cut a very long story short (you may find a link to the long version elsewhere on these pages!) - we have been making beautiful music since 1984 under Music Director Bruce Pullan. As our program gradually expanded, Marisa Gaetanne joined the team and now conducts our youngest choirs and the Chorus. Here’s what our structure looks like in the current (2009/10) season. We expect things to stay pretty much the same unless changes are warranted due to registration demands.
Overview of our Choirs
- Piccolos – Grades K-2
- Juniors – Grades 3 & 4
- Chorales – Grades 5-8
- Chorus – Very challenging choir for unchanged voices, approx. Grades 6 & up.
- Vancouver Bach Youth Choir – Girls enter at Grade 11, boys as their voices change. Continues into post-secondary level.
- Sarabande – A chamber choir of returning ‘grads’, plus current VBYC.
